2024 America’s cup sailing race goes to: Barcelona!

Barcelona will proudly be hosting the 37^th America’s cup sailing race edition in 2024. The Catalan capital has been chosen over other competitors such as a Malaga and Cork.

The New Zealand team captain Grant Dalton, winners of the last race edition, said that “Barcelona will become the world sailing capital”. The “kiwi” team has won the two last sailing races, in 2017 in Bermudas and 2021 in Auckland.

The sailing course will be set in between the W hotel and the Olympic harbour, a total length of 2 miles. The investment for the event would be around 25 million euros coming from different institutions.

Barcelona is one of the most attractive cities in the world and will become the first city to hold the Olympic games (in 1992) and the America’s cup event. The city perfectly fits for this purpose thanks to all the top facilities and technical infrastructure already existing.

Barcelona is also set to host the 2030 Winter Olympics after Spain’s Catalonia and Aragon regions reached an agreement to work together in order to present a joint candidacy.

There is a new catamaran in town

“There is a new catamaran in town”… and it will be soon available moored at Sitges port suitable for any kind of event.

This is a new, luxurious and futurist catamaran never seen before in the Mediterranean Sea.

The solarium has 19 comfortable and design lounges. Every lounge has mattress, pillow, towel and box with key for guests’ personal belongings. It has a sun visor that offers protection, comfort and intimacy.

The inside of the boat has a capacity up to 38 people sitting in nice Chester sofas. It is equipped with air conditioning, TV screens for presentations and a bar that offers gourmet menu as well as a selection of premium cocktails.

The prow area is a VIP zone for 8 people. Guests will enjoy privacy, VIP service and spectacular views. The poop is equipped with showers and swimming platforms.

IBTM Barcelona – Where the World meets

Barcelona Bridal Week– the capital of bridal fashion!

One in every ten wedding dresses sold worldwide is Spanish design. Spanish bridal fashion is highly regarded for its excellent quality. Once again, Barcelona becomes the international capital of bridal fashion during Barcelona Bridal week, one of the most wedding fashion events. From May 6th to 11h, the Fira Exbition Centre is transformed into a huge catwalk for wedding dresses, communion dresses, ceremony dresses and accessories of over 200 brands. The event is divided into three formats- Pasarela Gaudi Bride (runway shows only), Salon International Noviaespaña (a trading platform) and Eurobijoux Mibi (bridal fashion accessory show).

More than 14000 visitors from around 50 countries is making a beeline for the high profile event and taking active part in the exhibitor visitor negotiations. This year, leading national and international designers such as Rosa Clará, Raimon Bundó, Jesús Peiró, Victorio & Lucchino, Yolan Cris, Inmaculada García, M&M, Cymbeline, Isabel Zapardiez, Jordi Dalmau and Hannibal Laguna are participating.

The Gaudí Novias Catwalk, opened the event, feature practically all of the sector’s most important brands that got on the catwalk to officially present the 2015 season collections to buyers and guests from the five continents. The Eurobijoux Mibi event will display high-end fashion accessories from around 50 European labels. With an annual turnover of over €341.76 million, the Spanish bridalwear industry is considered as one of the most active sectors of the country’s economy.

Day 2

Sailing Regatta

Breakfast at the hotel. Going to the port for a sailing regatta. It combines amusement, competition and for the sea lovers, the chance to get in touch with the beautiful Mediterranean sea. In order to achieve a positive team building result, participants shall be encouraged to take part in all activities involved in sailing the boat under the guidance of qualified instructor.

Day 3

Team building beach activities

These activities take place on the beach (Castelldefells). Participants will be divided into several groups. Each group will do different activities to develop team spirit and improve team work. Activities include beach volleyball, SUP (Paddle Surf) and boat constructions.

Day 4

Alimentaria 2014 – International Food and Drinks Exhibition

From March 31st till April the 3rd Barcelona will be hosting one of the biggest international food fairs – Alimentaria 2014! It will take place in Gran Via Exhibition Centre. This will be the twentieth exhibition held and it takes place every two years.

Only 35 kilometers from Barcelona, on a mild hill, at the feet of the Montserrat Mountain and surrounded by vineyards, there are 247 acres of the Montserrat Wine Resort.

Conde de Godó – Barcelona Sailing Trophy

Real Club Náutico in Barcelona recently launched the 40th edition of the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy. The action on the water was performed by the professional sailing classes, like the Wally, TP52s and Soto 40s. The battle was promised to be intense, and so it was; there were 65 boats in three different race courses, the best of international sailing together with more amateur units, fighting for the Conde de Godo Sailing Trophy.

Joaquím Barenys, Director of the 40th Conde de Godó Trophy praised the competition: “The Conde de Godó Trophy is in excellent health with an international fleet of both professionals and amateurs, and it has continued to build over the years. … The participation of some of the great legends of international sailing in the competition is the best birthday present that we could possibly have for the 40th edition of the Conde de Godó Trophy.”

The Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy kicked off on the 22^nd of May with excellent sailing conditions on the water in Barcelona. After the harsh conditions the fleet had on Friday, the races scheduled for Saturday had to wait longer than expected due to the light wind that was blowing in Barcelona during the morning.

The last day of the Conde de Godo Sailing Trophy was full of anxiety. The prevailing light wind indicated the worst but finally the fleet was able to race in appropriate conditions. The 40th Conde de Godo Sailing Trophy ended on 26^th of May and got its winners: QUANTUM RACING (TP52), EARLY BIRD (Soto 40), ZHIK/NOVASAIL (J-80), OPEN SEASON (Wally), XSPAIN (ORC 2) FANYTAS (ORC 3) and RATS ON FIRE (ORC 1).
